Could be better

Well at least when you expand it, it gets bigger. That is pretty nice anyways. However one of the few things I notice that would be simple, time saving and really neat to do here is redo the coding for the get it button. Instead of it going to the url, modify it and change "listen" in the url to "download" so they can get it directly. Not sure if you want to do that or not but I think that would be cool anyways, the way it is just fine anyways.

The background is really nice and classy. Upon seeing the title I expected to see the background moving a bit like lights going up or down for every song change that you do here. That would look nice here I think. The yellow in the back is nice as well I think.

The way it loads up every song seems to be about the only real cool thing here and the possible glitch you added? The glitch I speak of is if you add no number to the gray box, it goes to the elevator for a slight moment then skips to a screen of a man strapped down to something? Why is that there anyways? He just opens and closes his mouth, no use there either. Kind of just a bit creepy is all.

However I think you should modify the elevator a bit more too. You could add a genre box at the start and then the elevator could play all of those in numerical order going up or down, that would be neat to see here.

Overall, seems to be a cool little gadget but could use a bit of work and possibly noting of the creepy guy strapped down being noted so I know why he is there if no music plays.

"Change 'listen' to 'download'"
I've actually done that before in an earlier attempt at an audio player. The method to my madness here is that going to the "listen" page gets the user a better look at the artist. Still, that would make things more convenient.

"expected to see the background moving a bit like lights going up or down for every song change that you do here"
I don't get it...

"Screen of a man strapped down or something?"
That's an Easter egg for people who try to break the audio player, glad you like him.

"You could add a genre box at the start and then the elevator could play all of those in numerical order going up or down, that would be neat to see here."

I would certainly like to know how to read genres for the sake of filtering. Unfortunately, that would require a program to read the page source as that information is not embedded in the song. Not even NG radio does this. As for being able to change directions that would be possible, The challenge with that would be to enable it to know when to stop pulling blank URLs (say if someone enters the latest song and switches the direction to up). Still it would be possible.

"Overall, seems to be a cool little gadget but could use a bit of work "
Indeed, hopefully I will get stronger in my skill and make something to compete with NG radio

Thanks for reviewing.

Not sure

Not entirely sure why this is meant to be scary at all actually. Kind of feels like it was just some girl who could be clicked on to get different looks and just a head looking out at everything but never truly doing anything at all. There was no real feel of a build up and not even mental scaring either. Just classical music as a girl watches things happen all around her.

While this is a point and click styled game where you can just click on the girl and nothing else. I think you could have made this more interesting by having the various other characters and things that come on screen be clickable and be able to interact with them doing something with or to the girl. The guy walking on the bridge, stuff falling into water, and the squid at the end didn't really seem to phase her at all, she just watched them.

Overall, it's alright but nothing scary at all sadly.

To be honest, if I spent more time on it, then I would come up with an infinite long list with ideas on it.

Maybe the warning message misguided you, but I simply put that one up, because of one particular scene. What I mean is that this animation was never meant to be scary.

It has a deep meaning to it actually and if you didn't play the game, then it's actually hard to think about it. (Most of the time, that is)

Thanks for the review, SCTE3.

Sadly bland

Not trying to be truly harsh and that such but this sadly seemed to be pretty lacking and beating the game took me a bit more than ten minutes as well.

I think that some people could possibly enjoy the game more if the smiley wasn't always falling all the time and rather stayed in one place until you were moving it. That was probably the biggest problem I had here was trying to keep it from touching the walls in the early levels to finish the game because if I wasn't doing anything then it was falling and touching the walls and since there is never any kind of checkpoint I always ended up having to start all the way from the start once again which can be a pain sometimes since level 6 took me a couple of minutes to finish sadly.

The song of choice was alright but I think you could have chose something else as in something that loops perfectly so we never hear a couple seconds of no music as well. The song is nice though, just not entirely fitting here unless you decided to clip off a few seconds yourself anyways.

The animation was pretty bland as well sadly. Just a kind of poorly done awesome face, although the one at the start menu was funny since you could make it look cross eyed anyways. Some of the backgrounds were pretty boring too I think such as the rainbow backgrounds for the maze levels, I think you could have used some variation there.

For the maze levels I think adding pieces of walls could have made them better as players can readjust their fingers so they can take a break for a second then readjust their fingers and continue off from the wall resting point. That would have been incredibly helpful.

The game play is OK but as I stated earlier, not having the face in free fall all the time would be incredibly helpful to some players.

Overall, the game is lacking in originality but then again it beats some of the games that come into the portal anyways. Not too bad for a game that might annoy a couple of people with the gravity physics. I guess that could be weakened a bit is all to make it less challenging to some players.

Thank you for reviewing this game :)
I will probably implent all the things you mentioned in my next game(s) :)

Very helpful review, thanks again :P

Not too awful bad

This actually seemed to be ok but kind of glitchy. If the sharks can be shot and destroyed then why do they not effect your health bar at all? Would be nice if they did to keep the game interesting and challenging. Nice to know that falling at some parts onto the ground below harms you for some reason too.

I am guessing the shrimp is meant to be you right? Kind of bland and lifeless in color sadly. The game play was alright yet fun I think anyways. The dissolving platforms over spikes give a nice challenge I think making the game have to go a bit faster for the player.

The choice in music was nice to say the least. I guess you could have chosen some other song for the level anyways to give a more watered feel to it, the underwater level music from Super Mario 64 does a good enough job though so it works for me.

Overall, not bad, some parts it feels a bit glitchy since I could jump up through some areas, the music and everything else were very nice though.

The fish were just kinda there as tests for the second Shrimpy's adventure. It would be kinda cool if they affected you, but I'm notgonna go back and do that since I have more important things [You know what I mean]
Also, the reason shrimpy is so dull is because He's always been black and white since I start drawing comic strips staring him a couple years ago.(Even in colored drawings) might possibly make that a joke thing or plot element later.
Thanks for the critique!

Good cover

Well I like how you converted a flash story into a playable game. Don't get me wrong the game was great however the extra partner simply being there felt like a dick move a lot!! Mostly because they did nothing at all unless you switched over to them making the game in itself just a bit harder. Why have an extra character there helping if they can't do anything without you switching to control them? Seems pointless.

The graphics were simply Madness and nothing short of what the flash was.

The game play was good but there were several places that annoyed me to honestly no end. For instance early in the game if you screw up once then you get pinned into the corner and can't get up or do anything since once you do you get hit again meaning you have to redo that room all over again to no annoying end.

The final battle was not too bad since if you started with a grenade launcher and ended it with a Dragon's Breath then the battle would be over quickly but some parts of the game were annoying however as once you were down and cornered it was petty much game over since as I pointed out earlier the ally does absolutely nothing unless you switch to them.

Overall, great flash to game convert but the ally system seems pointless. At least have them doing something aside from following you only when not playing as them at least.

Spudzy responds:

Thank for the great review, I know the ally system is bad, I couldn't figure out how to program him to shoot at enemies.

Good yet difficulty spike

Ever heard of a difficulty spike? A game where everything is fine and dandy and then suddenly makes a jump and becomes harder than it should. Not all the levels are beatable, seriously. I gave up after trying to beat "Remember Me" for five minutes because guess what? Difficulty spike, oh and also the second platform is one pixel out of reach. Sometimes I would hit the side of it but it was impossible to jump on to it even when I was as far over as possible on the first platform. Should look into fixing that level.

The game play is simple and addictive and gets you into wanting to beat every level as well which is grand and all but one should also play test every level they make so they know there is no errors in them that could cause a player to be unable to finish the game. Some of the levels feel like they were left untested though.

The music is pretty nice here although I would suggest choosing something that loops a lot better rather than one that ends and has to restart all over again like the one you chose for this little game.

Overall, it is a good game but seriously, "Remember Me" needs to be fixed or at least have the second floating platform moved one pixel towards you.

lime-light responds:

Thanks for the informative review. This is, like I said, my first solo game. Remember Me is beatable, just check the scoreboards for proof of that. Also, the loopability of Jumper isn't really up to me. It fit the game the best, and thats why I chose it.

Great Game

Have to say this turned out well although it takes a bit of time to get adjusted to moving the mouse fast enough to shoot everything on screen. I still found it rather fun and the game style heavily reminds me of duck hunt except they go up and down instead of just flying off the screen to nowhere at all.

The graphics were retro and rather amazing, not much else to say there. The music was nicely chosen and rather fitting as well so that goes well too.

The gameplay is rather fun but as I already said it simply takes a few tries and practice to get the hang of it really quick which turns out to go rather well in the end as well. Really fun and simple game play too. Shooting every last piece on screen helps you live longer.

Overall, great game, I guess being able to shoot while recharging would help a tad bit I guess.

Good test

Although I generally shun test submissions in the portal mostly for being a waste of time and an easy blam point, there are an exceptional few of them that like this turn out rather well. I guess if you made it downloadable as some sort of computer app then you could be doing well since they could put it in the corner and have a better and smoother way of telling what time it currently was.

However this piece like most test submissions is missing quite a bit. I guess if you added a Newgrounds radio app and the ability to change the background color then this could be pretty cool anyways or if it was downloadable then have an invisible background I think.

Overall, pretty cool clock piece.

51lver responds:

Thank you. I guess it probably should have been blammed. It's interesting you have said that as I personally made this my screensaver for my computer, which is nice with the colours changing and it telling the time as well.

Incredible game

Have to say though, the music makes it incredibly fun and makes you feel as if you could lose or win at a moment's whim as well, excellent. The game itself is still pretty fun though, I guess the only thing really missing is the ability to move and medals and it would be a perfect game that would be greatly addicting and fun. I guess a high score mode would also be nice to have as well.

The background was real simple and nice. The animation of the shapes having symbols on them was cool as well, at least they don't shoot at you which is nice and saves you a bit of health when you decide to upgrade as well. Very good shooter though.

The shooting of other shapes at first is rather tedious and you feel slow on some of the earlier levels but once you buy a bit of health and start stocking up for better weapons with higher power then the game begins to get a tad bit easier for you as you go along though. The bombs come in real handy when there are too many shapes closing in quickly as well.

The weapons are nice and I think my favorite was possibly the cluster gun since that thing pretty much wiped almost everything out within seconds of firing it too, awesome. Really good game though. I think if you considered adding medals and a high score system then this could be a perfectly fun and highly addicting little shooter game.

Overall, great game, just add some medals.

51lver responds:

Thank you very much for this thorough review! I'm glad you liked the music, I've had a few people tell me it fitted well :) The cluster gun was always my favourite when I was playing it too! In my upcoming game (also a shooter) I'm going to have medals in it, hopefully making it a bit more fun, giving the player a goal to aim for. There are highscores built in, unless you mean a completely different game mode with a separate challenge

Good game

I like how once again we are back into the 8-bit realm where what you do was always limited in one way or another. The final boss was alright though. You just need to figure out when to jump to avoid taking less damage. Had you been able to duck then it would be possible to beat the boss without taking damage since when it shoots straight you are always hit no matter what.

The graphics are 8-bit, amazing!!

The game play was great and simple up until the elevator moment. I was doing well until I got to the three fast moving blocks. You needed near perfect timing just to get past them as well which meant you had to go exactly when they were going back up giving you just barely enough time to get past it. Everything else was smooth.

Nice choice in music!!

Overall, good Robot Day game.
