Not bad

Although the concept too ka few minutes to get used to as well. Another thing is if you are going to make the music speed up into a rhythm then have the character speed up as well to make it just as challenging and fun since it does not seem as fun when the music speeds up and you do not.

The game play was alright but hard to get used to at first and took a few minutes to get used to working with which was alright I suppose anyways. The audio used was pretty cool so nice choice in music I suppose. The background looked alright as well but would be cool if it changed to a light color of whatever color the character had changed to to make it intriguing.

Overall, good game, the only problem I ever encountered was sometimes I fell through even though I had changed to the right color.

FuzzyMint responds:

Thanks for the feedback SCTE3, you have to change colors before you land on the block, otherwise you will fall through.

Good start

This is actually not too bad for a starters dressing game and you haven't even been here for about a week and you are already doing good with flash I see. This game is ok for a start but once you start getting better you can add backgrounds and songs to make it even more fun and possibly an option to print it out on printers too.

The background was basic but alright at the same time so nice work in that area I think. The main part of the fun was giving him different looks and such. Took me a moment to figure out the line thing was a leash. Why would he need a leash though, little kids though I guess, they wander away from their parents every now and then on accident or purpose.

The outfits, hair, and other stuff was nice. I think the next one though you should give a bit more variety with unisex, male, and female clothes for the fun of it. It would make the dress up funner and give some people a good little laugh I think.

Overall, this is actually pretty good for your first attempt at a dress up game. You have patience to draw nicely too. How do you draw so well? Good luck on future flash projects.

catboymech responds:

:3 Thank you soooo much for the fair review! On a side not, it's not a leash, haha ^_^ It's supposed to be an mp3 player *shot*

Thank you for the helpful tips! I am going to apply those in my future endeavors!

Quite fun

I actually think this is going to be worth playing for awhile since it also allows users to donate to help the victims of the earthquakes in Japan.

The graphics were nice and retro as always. How do you two always manage to make everything look retro yet fun at the same time if I may ask?

The game play was nice and kind of felt like it was teaching players to type so I guess it could be a game aimed toward a young audience as well right? I found that the farther I went that it kept getting harder with each wave requiring faster finger tapping.

The music was nice and kind of reminded me of Pokemon Puzzle League for some reason or another.

Overall, this game turned out nice.

poxpower responds:

The reason is that I'm awesome at pixel graphics and Rog is awesome at making NES music.

Great work

I have to say that I was impressed with this.

The graphics were actually pretty nice so that was a good amount of work I see considering that it probably took a few minutes to make the background, enemies, and the giraffe as well. So that was very nice.

The audio choices were also very nice and fitting too. Kind of put you into the action and strangely made you feel quite awesome so great work there too.

The game play was really but I had one slight problem with the game. There would be moments in which I moved the mouse one way but the giraffe did not go to where the mouse had gone until a couple of seconds later which I guess is just minor overlooked piece in the programming right?

Overall, not really too bad. Just fix the little mouse problem and this game is perfect.

Funny take on reviews

I found this to be a pretty nice parody and mock of how to write reviews actually. The way you state that most users aren't even going to spend more than five minutes writing a review is more than likely true but you tend to have users from time to time who tend to make nice reviews very often. They tend to be the reviewers that others should wish to look up to as well.

I found the background to be simplistic while the music gives this parody some life of its own although there were many other choices in audio that you could have gotten, this one seemed to be most fitting for the humorous occasion.

Mostly though, this gave me a good laugh over everything else since you were mostly describing things one should almost never do in a review although I can understand the one liners being real common with a lot of new users and a couple of long time users. Mostly because they don't understand writing a nice review or they simply don't have enough time or don't feel like writing a review at all.

I have to say that overall though, this was a very nice and funny parody. Really enjoyed this piece of comedy.

thinking-man responds:

Thanks. Actually, I looked up "loop" in the audio portal, and that was the first choice.

Pretty nice

The game is nice but I noticed there was one thing missing to make this game a bit easier and more realistic like most other platformer game... the ability to duck! If this was in the game then the player might survive a few seconds longer and some of the puzzles and guards they have to back attack.

The graphics ran smoothly so that was really great as well. I think with the dialogue boxes, adding voices to them would make them even better so you get more of a feel of what the characters are feeling as well.

The playing was pretty good although there were a few tough spots, after the player gets the idea of what to do they can clear through most rooms in a matter of minutes and continue on to the next room.

You made some very nice choices in the audio categories as well. The songs played at fitting times in the game so no complaints there either.

I would have to say that overall, this was a pretty good game. Somewhat like others. All I would suggest is adding voice actors and the ability to duck. Aside from that, great job here.

Skeik responds:

Yeah I could've handled how the player gets spotted much better, instead of just having being spotted be an instant death. It almost makes the health bar feel useless. At some point I think I would actually like to go back and take Cold Reavers art and fix up the game with voices, better platforming, puzzles and AI, but that's not going to happen for a while.

Thanks!

Improved

I would say this is a pretty good improvement since your older version actually. I do still have a problem here that is somewhat different from the previous. The blue guys still gang up on me if I become unlucky enough but this time they can start shooting at me before I can even see them now. What happened in the coding?

The bullet sounds are still good anyway and the hit box for when you die is still good as to go too. The graphics are still a bit dull though. Should try a bit of the boxhead method when the opponent dies, they stay there in a small blood pile for a bit before fading away.

Aside from that stuff, this game has some good potential. Just keep updating and removing the parts people still have issues with and this could go quite well.

Thanks for taking the time to follow the game, as it's being developed.

EDIT: I've fix the enemies shooting at you, before you see them by adding the delay timer back in (amongst other things)

The ganging only really occasionally happens near the borders/if the player spawns next to a large group of enemies; for the most part only a certain number of enemies can stalk a target around the map for at a time.
I was thinking of adding in decoy beacons to ensure idle enemies don't group together...

I like the idea of a splash of blood, surrounding your character as he dies, but I need proper isometric graphics to go by first.

Updates will be a bit slower with the main semester of Uni Starting back up.
However with so many people taking an interest in this project's development,
I'm going to prioritize giving it the best I can.
:)
EDIT: To prove my loyalty I just posted another update in response to all the recent feedback:

BETA 0.18.7:
[*]Reduced Lag
[*]Fixed fire delay with enemies at the border
[*]Reloading Sound.
[*]Fixed glitch with rocket launcher sound.
[*]Bigger and fancier radar
[*]Game automatically pauses when not in focus.
[*]& more

Great game

The background graphics were actually quite nice and crazy looking. I actually beat the game and only encountered one problem. That problem was I had to close the game out after beating it to start again, aside from that I really didn't encounter any problems from this game.

I would have expanded and added a few more levels though and make them a little more difficult as it goes along so the player keeps having to improve to pass each level by getting a bit better hand coordination after finishing each level.

I would say this is a pretty fun game to play over and over again albeit you have to exit then reenter the game if you manage to beat this fun little maze styled game. Also liked how the lines seem to have a glow effect to them.

Really enjoyed the song as well, kind of keeps you calmed and relaxed while you play through this game. No matter how frustrating a level is, patience and accuracy remains to be the key of each level.

Enjoyed and loved how you disabled right clicking cheating which is a mistake most authors make and then it takes the fun out of the game because then the player can simply right click and skip every level in a quiz/maze/whatever other kind of game.

I have to say though, this turned out to be an excellent game to play.

Overall, a terrific maze game but I would suggest adding a couple more levels and increasing the difficulty every couple of levels. Aside from that, excellent game.

Lol thanks for the epic review, I liked the last paragraph lol
thanks :)

Pretty good

Although it doesn't show every kind of abusive review, you still get the idea of how to flag. Glad to have earned the might beity whistle ages ago. You give the player an idea of what to look for in abusive review and when to leave them alone as well. This is actually a good creative game that gets users to think before they leap to a conclusion on how to vote on a review or flash.

The graphics were pretty nice and I like how it says /yes/no/abusive as it did before the amazing 2007 site update. I still like this site update as it is. The songs you chose were also awesome. Great piece of work Little-Rena.

Little-Rena responds:

Thanks, this was done after the redesign though but I don't remember when the things changed, I'm forgetful.

Thanks for the review though and I'll try and get more in my ...mod series done, someone reminded me but I lack timeeee

Good tutorial

This would be good to keep in mind for other authors who strictly want their work only to be viewed on Newgrounds. However some morons can't understand that so they open up the flash and remove those bits of code as you can play Newgrounds games on many other non-NG affiliated sites sadly.

Really cool how you can block non-Newground members from viewing meaning a not so smart person could upload it to their site but players would have to strictly to the NG page it is on to play in. Then it can be layered to force them to be a member and log in before they are allowed to play.

Excellent tutorial that is sure to be useful to someone out there.
