Minimal style and the such seems alright. Seeing as this is a test game more or less, not too much to review on it.

The gameplay itself is simple and just dodging obstacles, the only real difficult thing was the red line that would appear anywhere.

The audio seems pretty iffy. The only sound is a loud grinding sound when you get hit and it kind of acts as a jumpscare for the first time you get hit honestly. Should probably lower the volume on that a bit as well as adding background music to add a little more flavor to the game.

Overall, not bad, but not too good either.

Anubis5605 responds:

yeah I'm working on that.. the game itself is an embedded Scratch project (scratch.mit.edu) so the sound you hear is the audio lagging (idk why it does that, I wish it didn't). I deleted the music from the original because I don't think that Newgrounds covers Creative Commons Licence 3.0, but I am going to add in music I am making.
I will add more elements so don't worry about that, and I am planning on updating this sometime soon.
Thanks for the review, I'm not a professional game maker here, but hopefully I can fix it.

Sometime I hope to add in coins so you can buy icons.

Not a bad start, also this is NOT a rhythm game. This would fit more as a platformer.

There is no music or sound effects so nothing to comment on there.

The gameplay is a bit off or hard at times. Should make a note in the comments that you jump by pressing the Z key. However, the last two levels are just out of nowhere and a sudden jump in difficulty (no pun intended.) You have wind blowing you super fast for the next to last level. Then in the last level (space level which I assume is the last level), there is no way to reset if you mess up. It sends you flying all the way back down to the bottom of the screen with no way to restart other than restarting the whole game itself.

There is only one sprite and it seems to be a sprite of Sonic from the Game Gear game series. Even when he jumps or dies, there is nothing that changes with his sprite. Should work on that if you end up improving on this game in the future. I also noticed in the Orange level, the one roof platform is probably one block size too low since I died trying to jump just underneath it several times.

Overall, seems like you were just testing yourself to see if you can make a decent game. It is not a bad start but I feel there is room for improvement, should look up some platform game design tutorials to help out.

Thanks for the feedback!

Not a bad time-waster honestly. The gameplay is mashing your keyboard and then pressing Enter. The only issue I have is I have restarted the game at least 5 times and it always gets stuck looping on a tweet over and over again regardless of how much you type it. :(

The music is pretty nice though.

ninjamuffin99 responds:

ah dangit i still gotta fix that lol

This game is not entirely bad but it is so bare with it missing certain aspects that I do not think this would properly qualify as a clicker game.

The game itself is simple and straightforward, click on the fidget spinner and gradually gain better fidget spinners that yield higher tap amounts to get better fidget spinners sooner. One of the main issues though is that auto-clicking is an ability rather than a permanent ability which makes me feel this is not really a clicker game in its entirety.

The game should have an unlockable auto-clicker ability that can be gradually upgraded to make the taps accumulate sooner and thus making the game less of a chore to complete.

The art seems pretty average and I notice with some of the fidget spinners that when they start to spin and spin fast enough; that they are off to the right side a little. I do not know if that was intentional or perhaps an oversight when you were making this game.

The music reminds me of grocery store music you might hear at smaller grocery store chains. There should be an option to turn the music off, that way if you decide to listen to different music or podcasts; you will be able to listen to that stuff while playing this game.

A very bad drawback to this game is the ads. Not the ads themselves but how OFTEN they seem to popup during the game. I averaged it and they seem to appear every 3-5 minutes. While I do not mind the idea of having an ad appear when obtaining a new fidget spinner; having them appear every few minutes just comes off as annoying after awhile. It is even worse if there is an ability in use and you are having to click to spin the fidget spinner meaning that there is some time lost when using the ability.

The abilities are alright sans for the auto-click ability which should be a default upgrade option instead. While one could reload the page to use the skills over and over with no cooldown, that honestly seems like it wastes time as well so it feels a bit like a lose-lose on cooldown times. I do not mind cooldown times though, just seems odd that that is a glitch one could use, although; again it does not really save much time.

The medals are pretty easy to unlock except for one... I notice no one has unlocked the Fidget Capitalist medal yet. Any hints on HOW to unlock that medal?

Overall, it is not too bad but it seems it could be a whole lot more polished than it currently is for a better experience.

Not a bad short game, kind of reminds me of GameBoy Color or NES games.

The gamplay is moving then interacting with the environment to figure out what to do to advance the story next.

Would not mind playing more games like this in the future, pretty good game if you have 20-30 minutes to waste.

NeithR responds:

Thanks for playing!
And yes, I am planning to make more games like this in future :-).

Fast paced and a little bit of luck

The gameplay is simple with using arrow keys to move and try reaching the end while hitting as little as possible on the way. No death count or time trial mode so it was not all bad.

The music fits and does not distract from the game itself.

Overall, not bad, kind of reminds me of Fracuum a bit, which was also a fun minimal style game on here. :)

stargazerstudio responds:

I'm glad you liked the game :) I wanted to make it simple as possible so it works on mobile too :)

Thanks for commenting !

You can get a soft-lock in level 2 where the ball just vanishes and you have to close the game and restart it. Also, level 2 amps up the difficulty way too far and too quickly after level 1.

Silva-Thornbrig responds:

thank you, everyone, for your advice, I'm still learning but I got a new pc and my old one broke so I can't really fix this game I'm learning a new game dev software and hope to make the best game I can in the future. I'm currently working on an rpg in rpg maker and learning unity to try for better games.

Going to have to rate this one lower, even as it is a demo piece, it seems really strange to see a concept paper looking level for the first level then seeing fully fleshed out looking levels for the next two levels. I understand you want to draw in more people to play these but making the games shorter and incomplete just will not be working for this.

Hopefully the next episode is longer than three levels and at least adds in music and sound effects. I also noticed the kick button does NOT work, I just kind of turned my back on Psyduck and that defeated them for some reason?

Here's hoping the second episode is more fleshed out and less rushed for attention.

Thank you so much for the kind words of advice! I really appreciate it and I don't find your ratings harsh at all! I think it's a perfectly fair rating and you're trying to help me improve! I just have to hope that I can improve and put all I've got into it so that rating goes up ;)
You are much nicer than some people who just vote 1 star because they think the idea of a Lucario Dating Sim is dumb, and I appreciate that! You're actually giving me good advice. To respond to some of your complaints, this game actually originally had way more levels, music and a more intricate story. Newgrounds has a limit of only 100 mb for flash files. It's ridiculous but as you can see all of the cutsenes are hand drawn and scanned into my computer, and they take up about 1mb of space each. There was originally way more of them. Not to mention the game used to have a 2 player mode, that's why the button on the title screen doesn't work, there was another level and a boss too! If Newgrounds gives more space to people who pay for a subscription I understand that is my excuse haha! I really did put all I had into the game and I had just worked on it for so long I finally wanted to release it even if I did have to cut a ton of content! If you want proof I'll legit post it to Itchio (a different games site that doesn't have a size limit) and send you a link. As for the first level being a sketch, I meant it to be a tutorial level (that's why there are instructions on sticky notes, and I based the idea of a tutorial being a sketch like in the game Sonic Ages, so it did have a purpose. But I still understand the complaint. I hope I can find a way to get more space or to condense things down better next time and make a truly long, fun game. Thanks again for the critique and I hope to see you back for Ep2!

The music and background seem both distracting and unfitting. Not a bad short game but I feel if you go to revise it, you should work on making the graphics better. :)

goosypie responds:

Thank you for your response i listen to my player and what they want so im upgrading it

Nonsense fueled short game. I noticed once you got to the large sandwich screen that there was no way to go past there so I assume that is the last level of the game. The sentence splicing was interesting to say the least.
