Another remake

Wow, a second bike chase remake in the same day? AWESOME!! This version is also cool and I like how it brings the metal aspect to it. Gives off the feel as if you have no choice but to bike until you escape which he eventually does anyways. This is a great metal mix. Loving the guitars here.

The guitars are lively here and give off a feel of desperation as you ride the motorcycle to freedom. The drums are very incredible and rapid here. Lots of kicks going on and I seem to enjoy it well. The bass line was simple and barely audible but cool I suppose.

I will say that overall this ia great remix and tribute to an excellent game. Good job.

Treviabot92-Virstein responds:

Well, the bass problem should be solved...kinda...sorta...whatever. Ehh. That's why I look for lots of songs that I can cover with my current amount of skill. Through the Fire and Flames by DragonForce is almost done, all I need is vocals and drums. I can provide the latter, but the former I already called in a friend and he hasn't sent anything yet (must be real busy with, uh...God knows what, probably work or school or something).

I'm glad you liked it. Not too many people do metal for game songs, which is kinda disappointing. GaMetal is one of the few I know who does metal game songs, but I don't like his stuff. It doesn't sound right. At all.

Thanks for the review!

EDIT: Through the Fire and Flames is out now. Didn't get any vocals, so I used a Sytrus gold saw instead. I dare say it sounds pretty good, but nowhere near as good as the original. Although, now that I think about it, I'm...I dunno, four months late in saying this? lol

Calming

I can see where at the start it feels a lot like a beach and winds blowing heavily, almost as if it were the start to a 70s music video as well which is just hat the intro made me think of. Then the slow phaser effect bass line comes in and starts up the beat. Soon the synth joins in with a different phaser effect applied to it.

The tune kind of seems to relax you and make you feel calm. The drums were the last step here as they provide the final piece of the tune and offer to make it complete as a whole. The way it flows for the rest of the song slightly repeats itself as it gets louder and adds in a bit more complex drum line to it.

Overall, calming and very nicely worked out ambient piece. Very relaxing indeed.

Interesting

This could certainly make for an interesting level beat actually. Maybe a creepy castle or really long dungeon level that changes a bit over time. This piece was very long but I found it to be rather calming as well which seems to be a good goal to have mind with some game level tunes, you don't want the player to always feel rushed, sometimes you want them relaxed so they can feel easy until they reach the end or area boss.

The synths here were very calming and I enjoyed how they kind of just took you on a trip through the caves of a game as you explore and search for answers or a villain/hero. The drums were very simple and brought bliss to the listener and helped them feel calm as well. The minor and yet long ambient notes i hear from time to time also make you feel good.

Overall, relaxing 8-bit tune.

ganon95 responds:

thanks :) yea i can see why you got the 8-bit feeling cuz its a remix of a game that has 8-bit styled music for its levels. the original was mostly ambient-ish minimalistic so i tried to work with something along that line.

this would actually sound good in a sidescroller that lasts exactly 10 minutes :P

Decently done

Kind of has an Egyptian feel to it as if you were in a desert level in a game exploring the place.Soon alarms go off and the base is found. You now explore in but soon end up near the edge of the atmosphere having to fight off Robotnik once again. You find and defeat him and take his egg sandwich from him. How funny.

The twinkle sounds I hear are good. Like most other dubstep songs I have heard I always hear a wub and wobble. Could those two sounds be replaced with any other kind of paired sound and still be a dubstep? Just wondering.

The drums are simple and have a good effect going with the them. Really enjoy the laser sounds and alarm that goes off as well. The twinkle and giggle sound later is cool I suppose.

Overall, good dubstep anyways.

Good times

I remember the motorcycle event well. The tune kind of makes you enter panic mode a bit strangely until you get used to it. I had to retry it a few times to finally get past it. It was a fun part to kick off the midpoint of the first disc when you finally leave Midgar which you come back to near the end of the game.

The piano here was very nicely worked out and I enjoyed it a lot too. The synth provides the main piece since they both play a separate piece of the whole tune in sync. The drums sound good, like how they roll out as triplets as well which is great.

Overall, good times, good remix.

Ixalon responds:

Hey thanks a lot! I'm really glad that you liked this one! One of my favorite songs on FFVII :D

Yeah many many times I did not succeeded on that little piano part, it was always too low on volumes or not in balance, this time I balanced it pretty well =)

Thanks a lot again for reviewing the remix!

Popular eh?

Wow is that quite loud dude. At least the start was and then most of the main beat with the dubstep sounds were very loud. Could have put up a slight warning that the listener should turn down the volume to avoid damaging their ears here. Aside from that you did produce a well done beat anyways.

The synth sounds very light and enjoyed when the wahwah effect came into play on it. The second synth continues on the same beat uninterrupted or tampered with. The dubstep sounds kind of make me think of Mega Man here.

The drums sound excellent and somewhat like what I could play on a drum set. There is no bass in this beat I see. I guess that is cool anyways.

Overall, good but loud.

EricFreeman responds:

Sorry about your ears :3

And yeah, the dubstep stuff is just me experimenting around with the genre and more particularly the synth Massive (my previous dubstep song 'I Wub Wub Wub You" was made with Sytrus).

Thanks for listening and reviewing! :D

Slick

This sounds like something I would hear in a racing game like Gran Turismo actually. Good game series but I never played it. I watched others play it and I would do a couple of endurance races, took a couple of hours but good times.

The synth provides a heavenly slice into the song while i hear some other high pitched sounds at other parts in the song. The piano sounds very peaceful here amongst all the upbeat sounds. I keep hearing a few long ambient notes in the background as well.

The drums are awesome here and provide a great backbone. I think I hear sand dropping at some parts as well. The bass line is deep space feeling and makes the song whole. The rhythm of the song seems to want to move you in a more positive direction which is great.

Overall, great and upbeat tune.

Sounds tense yet subtle

The piano going back and forth at the start then lead up with a slick beat is actually pretty nice this time around. I seem to have enjoyed this beat. Sounds like something I would listen to in Portal while I go farther in to try to fight Wheatley once again when he goes powermad all of a sudden with rage.

The drums lay down some awesome coordination and sound quite amazing here which turns out to be working nicely in your favor here so good work. The bass is ultra heavy but completely awesome with how it carries out a message of being happy. The synth and ambient tone of it all makes you feel great and I seem to enjoy that as well.

Overall, you seem to have done a good remake/remix of a good song from a game I have never played. I heave heard of it though.

Thanks for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have never played portal, so im lost on what you mean with Wheatley haha.

Awesome smack

Well you succeeded in making a glitchy hip hop beat featuring those awesome little ponies from that great show here. Really enjoy how hoppy the drums sound here. They just hope around a lot during the main beat. Like how you transition between the three styles. I hear Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, I really loved how the Pinkie Pie voice got ultra cool and glitchy. Kind of made me want a cupcake, I just enjoy her lighthearted and funny good nature. Kind of makes everyone else feel better. :D

The bass and drums sounded excellent here and I enjoyed them. The drums get hoppy and they just stay awesoem the whole time. Enjoy the long ambient 8-bit notes that play here as well. Like how towards the end the drums and Pinkie get truly fast and glitchy and then "Woah", sounds like one of the ponies had an orgasm or something, heh.

Overall, very creative beat, nice work!!

Mechabloby responds:

Thank you. Pinkie is my favourite simply because she says the greatest and most light-hearted stuff :] I'm glad you enjoyed my track. I made it in a day along with other tracks which I compiled into an EP, pretty much made from samples of the show. Thanks for the review. :)

Nice beat

Although if you ever redid this I would recommend raising Rainbow's voice since I can barely make out what she is saying. However I think you could also raise the overall beat of the whole song and turn it up a bit. I am sure it turned out great when you worked on it but if you redo it turn up the decibel level so it sounds a lot better.

The drums are cool. I can barely make out Fluttershy screaming in naive fear. Also Rainbow going "hahahahahahahahawwawawawawa" sounds cool I guess. What is he saying at the start anyways since he also says it during the main part as well. The bass line like and synth sound great here. Like the hardcore breakdown.

Overall, pretty good and loops well.

hippyphreak responds:

Thank you! I probably will end up redoing this and making it better, It was more of a messing around kind of thing, so I didn't really work on mastering/volume at all, I'll put it up when I do, maybe even add a bit more to it :) i'm gonna start putting songs up more often, so check back every now and then and watch me be an idiot with a music production program until I get a little better :P
