Nicely done

Has a feeling as if it was your final day as a montage shows someone who has been training like a ninja for years simply to have revenge on you so you beg for mercy as you die, sadly you are just a mistaken person and not the person they are after, simply someone who looks like them. The battle begins...

The synth is pretty thick and quite awesome here and I liked it quite a bit as the beat moves you forward a bit into the final battle with the super ninja. The ambient bass line gives a feeling of desperation though as the battle goes along as you wait for them to make a mistake and take out the ninja at last.

The drums are cool and the shuffle sounds kind of make me think of Earthbound too. The ambiance of the track is nice.

Overall, cool sounding boss piece.

I don't think I have ever seen a review explained like that. XD
Thanks for the input! I'm glad you liked it and I'll be putting up some more soon! ^_^

Well composed

Has a very nice flow to it as if this was the last easy level you will have for a long time as you race to the space levels in the skies above dashing through clouds and past stars as you find the secret base of the fat Robotnik guy who is ever devious yet lazy as well. Wonder what ever happened to Scratch and Grounder. Wonderful piece.

The piano gives a feeling of softness and that there will always be hope for you in the later levels as well as you rush to the end of the game too. The synth is cheery and rather nice on the ears too. The bass is simple and soft. The drum kick is a nice touch to go with that drum beat too.

Overall, a good feeling of hope here and a very nice loop as well.

Horror

Kind of makes me think of a horror scene in Resident Evil or Silent Hill where you begin to discover darker parts of the game and begin to get a little scared as you go around every corner no longer knowing what may come out to find you and try to kill you. You search for ammunition to survive the new dark world of horrors that await around every corner. Suddenly you begin to hear groaning from the door you just passed by a moment ago...

The synth provides a bit of comfort but the secondary ambient synth noise is very loud and just makes you feel as if you were stuck with little to no hope to get out alive in the zombie infested city. The bass line is also very dreadful feeling as well.

Overall, has a feel of desperation and sadness as if this could be your last night alive in the zombie like city. Good piece.

I was definitely shooting for desperation but I wanted some whimsy in there.

Thanks for the review!

Nice sounding

Kind of sounds like a piece you would hear in a dreamy level of a video game of some kind. The piece just seems to lull you into a happy place in your sleep as you fall asleep with a smile and look forward to a new day tomorrow after hearing this lovely composed piece. Sounds really nice so that is a positive.

The piano and synth work together to make a great beat of happiness. Also kind of makes me think of the Earthbound coffee break song strangely enough. The drums are calming and have a great beat that plays as the tune moves along as well. The bass is quite well and slightly blends in with the piano which is cool to hear I think, nicely done though.

Overall, dreamy and calming piece.

Thanks for taking out the time to do this review. Your efforts are much appreciated.

The atmosphere is very peaceful, isn't it? :) I thank you for your complements. I like how you said the piano and synth work together well, because that is something I worked hard on. I've never heard the Earthbound coffee break song, but I will now.

WOW THAT IS GOOD MUSIC. I can't believe I haven't heard this before. It's fantastic. I never really listen to video game music like this. Eargasm! :P

Yeah, so um, about the song. LOL. Thank you very much for your kind complements on the style, they're very much appreciated.

Dub wub wub

Well this is an excellent work in progress I think since it has a great rhythm leading up to the dub breakdown which sounded quite awesome I think as well. The beat is just highly funky and amazing as well!!

The dub sounds were cool and make you think of lots and lots of robots marching somewhere. The drum kit was quite sick and well done here as it provides a lax track. The synth sounds pretty sweet and I liked it a lot. Great bass as well.

Overall, looking forward to a full piece in the future.

Seems fun

It seems to be a pretty good loop I think. The tune has some ups and downs though but no song is perfect right? I can see this going well for a platform game anyways so that is nice to hear here. Kind of envision a couple of guys running forward working as a team to complete several levels where they both need to get items and weapons to move along and forward.

The bass seems to have a kind of awkward yet off tempo beat. I think if it had been more of a four note going down kind of thing such as highest note to lowest over and over again then it could have sounded nice. The bass just kind of seems to create a bit of a weird feel to the song as well I think.

The synth sounds good when it comes in and kind of makes me think of older style Pokemon games where they had long loops and mostly cheery sounding piece as well. It gives a nice upper feel to this piece anyways.

Overall, I would just consider working on the bass line a bit and making it a bit calmer you know. Other than that, not too bad for a loop.

DahDoctow responds:

Thanks! I always thought the bassline was pretty cool, although you are quite probable right

Not too bad

Although I guess it could be a bit more dramatic feeling with a drum roll track playing making you feel as if this was the start of the final journey to stop an ultimate evil here. Still not too bad for a video game piece anyways, gives a feeling as if you were in tutorial mode in a video game. Also kind of makes me think of Final Fantasy VIII as well which is pretty cool actually.

The drums give a feel as if the final boss was starting or something along those lines for the game that you would play and hear this one in. The violin is nice to hear. I liked the flute since it gives kind of a light feel as if it could be okay to screw up during training but during the real battle there will be no room for mistakes right or the boss will possibly strike a killing blow to the party before you use phoenix down.

The trumpets were a nice effect at the end I think as they give a quick softer feel I think. The tune gives a great feel of trial and error running though so that is what makes it a very good piece to listen to I think.

Overall, greatly done piece of work, would not mind seeing it used in a flash game or video game actually.

CheckeredZebra responds:

Interesting. I never quite saw it as a tutorial level, but now that you mention it I can see one character going "Come on, [player!] this way!" Then having a "press 'A' to swing your oversized sword!" button coming on.

Thank you for the kind words and the review :]

Pirates of the sea

I can just see this going perfectly with a montage of pirates at sea actually as they search high and low for mythical creatures as well as treasure too. However the leader is a girl pirate who took over at a young age when her father who was also a pirate got killed years earlier and she has learned to defend herself with helps of the other friendly pirates on board wishing to keep her safe in his memory. Great piece of work though.

The chorus is greatly done here as they provide high notes with their voices making you feel rather good. The pan flute was pretty cool and kind of made me think of an ocarina being played actually. The cymbals and tribal drums make a nice combination as they make you feel as if you were at sea with that pirate queen fighting beside her for good reasons.

The tune is a greatly dramatic pirate tun, nice!!

Overall, great piece of work.

Thanks for the review! I've always struggled with the chorus, but here I think I finally got the technique down.

Hopefully more to come!

Pretty good and creepy

I kind of find it creepy because at the start it sounds like someone is saying something in low pitch and simply whispering to scare you as well. Very creepy though for that part, the atmosphere of the song also seems to be dark. Could make a good tune for the intro or theme to a zombie movie as well where a few people are still trying to survive in a zombie like world.

The xylophone gives a darker tone rather than a happy image here for once actually. The violins sound dark when the strings are hit here and give a feel as if the guy was checking corners and simply being curious as to where he may be safe to stay for the night at next without being found out by zombies again.

The drum kicks are a nice touch and give that heartbeat feel here which is nice to know too. The piano gives a few low blows as if saying the zombies will come if you do not remain on the move as well. The low whispering girl sounds give a feel of weirdness here.

Overall, good beat, whispers make it creepy.

SkyeWint responds:

The heartbeat "kick" actually is a heartbeat. Probably why it sounds so much like one. The whole thing was meant to be dark and kind of sad as well. It's hard to hear the "sad" bit though, that part is more subtle towards the beginning and end.

Thanks!

Cute

I found this to be a very cute sounding piece of work actually. The tune just gives a feel as if you were immersed into a bedtime story with clocks and cats together with cats playing near the clocks then laying down and purring as they fall asleep leaning next to the clocks.

The xylophone sounds adorable here. The violin and piano both sound nice though as a team. The laser effect feels kind of weird and then there is a bass line. Then things get darker towards the end as the hungry luid eventually becomes Luis.

Overall, wonderfully cute piece though, sounds like it would make a great loop. Also why is there an extra three minutes of silence?

ThePlanetPluto responds:

Thanks! As for the silence, it was an error we hadn't noticed til later on haha
