Difficult fun

Never really been a fan of games with an isometric view since it takes me a bit of time to get used to the up/down/left/right thing since the screen is diagonal instead of what I am used to seeing and playing with. The music used here does have a feel good, easy, and fun feel to it though as it gets you into wanting to play it.

The graphics were pretty nice and the way the character is reconstructed after dying is pretty cool. Kind of took a bit of time to figure out I could click on where I wanted to go to which kind of makes it easier for me to play the game anyways. The graphics were good though and you figure out that some things need to be determined before you even begin to do the level.

The game play is as I said a bit difficult for me as I am not truly used to this style of game play sadly. Knowing most of the buttons only activate with certain colors though is quite helpful and only being able to move things after others have been moved is also good to know.

I suppose this game isn't truly something I would enjoy sadly. It is a rather good game though. Good setup and all.

Overall, isometric game, click and playing, it's fun though. Good work here. Nice medals.

ye this game has made me realise that with these games at 45 degrees with keyboard controls are just fundamentally flawed :p

Glad someone has comment on the music! Pretty chuffed with what Michelle produced for this game, not many 0 budget games boast 5 pieces of music to it!

Could use some work

Well it is not too bad anyways for an attempt at making a shooter game anyways. Seems to cover a few bases and stays really light. However there are a lot of things that could have been done here I think. The game is far from excellent but it is not bad either.

The audio is the first thing worth noting to me here. It is pretty basic but I think something that could have been done instead is instead of having that kind of music is to choose some other song, maybe a bit faster sounding too. That or left off the background music and added sounds to all that happens in the game allowing the sounds to create a song through game play instead kind of like the old Galaga games.

Game playing here could be fixed up a bit. Kind of sucks how you aren't able to move up and down on the screen or at the very least jump. Game doesn't ever get to hard which is good but sometimes I would encounter two O coming at me and it was kind of hard to knock them both out at once but it it did not happen often thankfully.

Another thing you could possibly have added was upgrades to make the game more interesting and to keep people playing and possibly even a high score board maybe if the game was improved a lot. Point accumulation is rather easy though which is good since it is meant to be basic in style. As for Z making a triangle fire, it looked more like a <D shaped thing than a triangle.

Shooting at platforms did nothing. Shooting at bombs gave a cool explosion, activating the protective fire destroyed the circles so the basics are covered but I would work on the audio here to make it slightly less annoying or at least at the ability to mute the sounds all together.

Overall, would make the fire more triangular shaped, add the ability to mute and possibly the ability to move up and down after accumulating a large amount of points. Aside from that, not too bad.

Bizarre

That and I still can't get the score medal. What score do you need anyways to get it? I guess that is one thing to change is lowering that medal requirements anyways. The highest score I could get was 4,700 before getting destroyed. The highest score anyone seems to have gotten on here as of all time and today seems to be just a bit over 5,000.

The animation here was very well put together since the less sober/sane he was, The more trippy he began to look and feel here. The enemies and Rick James jokes are also quite funny and well animated. Kind of sucks how the only time you see a lot of pizza is at the midpoint when you are completely unsober and any other time you get completely unsober it never appears like that again.

The game controls were good but it took a few tries for me to even get up to 4,700 since sometimes even if I was pressing and holding Up/W I still fell off the screen sadly meaning I had to start all over again. Another thing is enemies begin to appear more and more often the higher the score gets too.

Would be cool if the character began noting that around the 3,800 score mark on here too. The controls for left and right were nice but I tended to try staying near the top to avoid the enemies easier since if I began to fall there was always that possible chance he may not come back up. Would be cool if once you hit a certain score that the game was considered finished, like maybe 10,000 if that were ever even possible.

The medals are all good except possibly the score medal which I would simply ask to be lowered a bit is all so people can get it. What is the score required for it anyways? The Rick James and Meaning medals are easy and fun to get though so those work out rather nicely.

Overall, the handling for staying up is a bit harsh feeling at times and the Score medal should probably be lowered a bit. Aside from that, good Game Jam piece, pretty good with all the rainbow and trippy looking graphics here.

Good effort

Great game anyways, has a good atmosphere and all the stuff to go with it. Probably the only thing that bugs me is unlike most other flying games, instead of sticking to where you go, you gravitate back to the center. Kind of makes it more interesting anyways and makes it a bit harder to complete the game too.

The graphics here are incredible and very nice!! The game gives a feel of possibly sleeping as you are high in the clouds and simply trying to survive, I noticed almost anything except spinach was good for you to eat. I think another cool thing that could have been done is if you get another box while in a box it should be able to do endure more than one can of spinach at a time.

The audio here was pleasant and the music was nice to listen to. The wind that blows after being defeated by spinach is really nice and gives a feel of being outside high in the clouds. The laugh upon losing is really nice too I think, gives a feel of someone watch you try to fly the whole time.

Overall, good game, physics are different making it more interesting to play.

Could be better

Well at least you are learning a bit when playing this anyways. Kind of bland with graphics however. The answers to each question are good and nice to see how some questions have confusing answers to throw you off a bit too.

Game play is alright anyways.

Level 1 - Just fine
Level 2 - Just fine
Level 3 - Music glitch; when you fail a question the music will begin to play over the other music making it into a headache after answering a few questions wrong.
Level 4 - Just fine, an added question
The End - Clicking it leads to a door bell ringing and a wolf coming out. Who's voice was that anyways?

The music here was alright anyways. I guess I would have gone with darker and more ambient music to make it a bit more scary I think. The pictures were nice anyways, kind of sad how most of the later questions are just about the UK though but I guess that is where you reside so I can understand choosing those kinds of questions.

Overall, the music glitch in the level 3 area needs to be fixed up. Aside from that it was entertaining and educational.

1. I don't know what to do with the graphics, but I will consider it.

2. -Hah! we do so enjoy making those answers- it takes a lot of research to make so many questions definately 100% right or wrong, as we needed to in a medical quiz, with the wrong answers plausible enough to be challenging.

3. Thanks for telling me about the glitch. I will fix it.

4. Ah, you reached the end ! I suspect a lot of people (eg. Narcissy!) couldn't be bothered to finish it. The voice is Earthdragon 77, who'se voice also featrues in our Dragon Quiz.
5. If it were a true Halloween subject, we might have chosen darker music, , but as it was a combination of two subjects, we simply picked a selection of Halloween music to try and keep people working towards the next level and change of music.

6 The reason for the UK theme to a number of the questions is that it is hard to find definate, factual answers about blood donation around the whole world. We know that blood donation is dfferent in different countries and we took the idea of being factually correct veyr seriously. In fact, it took hours of research to come up with the range of questions and answers that we got and we inserted the selection of badges and pix from around the world to boost the international theme/message/appeal as best we could. Now you know how the rest of the world feels about USA Flash that is totally oriented around USA!

Slightly frustarting

Well this is not too bad for a demo but it kind of leaves some things unanswered while playing that could be filled in by saying you can get such and such by going to the site itself. I found the game to be slightly annoying after about round five or six. Probably because unless you are selecting defense as your bonus their attacks get stronger and stronger while you get weaker and weaker.

The graphics were simple and nice anyways. Gives a feel that this could be a nice online game provided you can upgrade your stats from time to time rather than starting at the bottom all the time for each round. As for possible mishaps. I notice at the select OOnIk screen that two of them were hidden. Would be nice to tell us that you can only play with them by going to the site. Then if you lose a later match, "Restart Battle" is very misleading as you go back to battle 1 instead of the current battle you are at.

The music here was nice.

Nice how you can keep coins after finishing up and that such. I sadly always got screwed up at round 9 and always got taken out as I they did more damage than I did health. They always got -200 on me everything I recovered too. The unlocks are very helpful. However a save system would be very helpful so the player doesn't have to restart everything every time.

Lastly, I see no point in the names if you don't see them anywhere at all sadly. That or it appeared during the battles at the top and I never noticed them.

Overall, it's a nice start but could use some fixing up.

Not too bad

Well this tutorial was helpful and the color was pleasing on the eyes as well. One of the few things here that really bothered me was during the latter part of the tutorial you had red font on a blue background which kind of makes your eyes hurt since the two colors don't go well together. I would suggest changing it to black or some other color that would not be harsh or hard to read.. it becomes even harder to view if one was colorblind I think.

The graphics were simple and the guns were well drawn I think. The only graphic problems I have is the red on blue later in and that's it.

The music played was simple although I don't know if it was my headphones or not, it did feel a bit loud at times but maybe it might just been the audio artist is all.

The tutorial is very useful in letting users know how to do this as well. not the first but it gets right down to the basics and even shows how to do a few neat things with words and pictures that you use for a button which is nice.

Overall, not too bad, I would just change the red text to something else.

I agree with the red text. I'll keep that in mind for next time.

Difficult to enjoy

Well the music was alright at least to me. Everything else felt like a great big mess that I didn't even bother trying to play medium or hard. Easy felt like hard already due to the physics of the game. Mostly because of how fast your reaction needs to be at first to keep the ball from touching the ground. The bounces are so weak at first that the ball shouldn't even bounce twice upon hitting the ground either.

The music was cool I guess since it never ended as it was a well made loop but sometimes you just want to mute it and make the music stop altogether. A mute button would be nice to have.

The animation was pretty simple anyways too. The GIMMICK intro piece was cool though.

The game play was slightly annoying though. Earning more coins was harsh. That and the fact that after one money upgrade you start hitting decimal numbers in the money seems rather pointless to me. The harder hitting was nice except when the ball was higher for a long time I thought I would earn more money for keeping it up there longer but alas that never happened and I did not get much.

The weight of the ball being lighter was nice I guess. The only good upgrade sadly was light gravity. After getting all three upgrades it becomes a whole lot easier to keep the ball up there for ages rather than having to be extremely fast in hitting the ball which was always annoying since hitting it anywhere but on the bottom meant it was being forced to the ground which was kind of annoying.

Overall, could use a lot of improving. I would change the ball's physic to where it always goes up since when you click it is meant to go up high right? Fix that and maybe the game won't be so bad. Everything else was OK, just add a mute button and change the background as well to something else.

Could be better

Well at least when you expand it, it gets bigger. That is pretty nice anyways. However one of the few things I notice that would be simple, time saving and really neat to do here is redo the coding for the get it button. Instead of it going to the url, modify it and change "listen" in the url to "download" so they can get it directly. Not sure if you want to do that or not but I think that would be cool anyways, the way it is just fine anyways.

The background is really nice and classy. Upon seeing the title I expected to see the background moving a bit like lights going up or down for every song change that you do here. That would look nice here I think. The yellow in the back is nice as well I think.

The way it loads up every song seems to be about the only real cool thing here and the possible glitch you added? The glitch I speak of is if you add no number to the gray box, it goes to the elevator for a slight moment then skips to a screen of a man strapped down to something? Why is that there anyways? He just opens and closes his mouth, no use there either. Kind of just a bit creepy is all.

However I think you should modify the elevator a bit more too. You could add a genre box at the start and then the elevator could play all of those in numerical order going up or down, that would be neat to see here.

Overall, seems to be a cool little gadget but could use a bit of work and possibly noting of the creepy guy strapped down being noted so I know why he is there if no music plays.

Surn responds:

"Change 'listen' to 'download'"
I've actually done that before in an earlier attempt at an audio player. The method to my madness here is that going to the "listen" page gets the user a better look at the artist. Still, that would make things more convenient.

"expected to see the background moving a bit like lights going up or down for every song change that you do here"
I don't get it...

"Screen of a man strapped down or something?"
That's an Easter egg for people who try to break the audio player, glad you like him.

"You could add a genre box at the start and then the elevator could play all of those in numerical order going up or down, that would be neat to see here."

I would certainly like to know how to read genres for the sake of filtering. Unfortunately, that would require a program to read the page source as that information is not embedded in the song. Not even NG radio does this. As for being able to change directions that would be possible, The challenge with that would be to enable it to know when to stop pulling blank URLs (say if someone enters the latest song and switches the direction to up). Still it would be possible.

"Overall, seems to be a cool little gadget but could use a bit of work "
Indeed, hopefully I will get stronger in my skill and make something to compete with NG radio

Thanks for reviewing.

Not sure

Not entirely sure why this is meant to be scary at all actually. Kind of feels like it was just some girl who could be clicked on to get different looks and just a head looking out at everything but never truly doing anything at all. There was no real feel of a build up and not even mental scaring either. Just classical music as a girl watches things happen all around her.

While this is a point and click styled game where you can just click on the girl and nothing else. I think you could have made this more interesting by having the various other characters and things that come on screen be clickable and be able to interact with them doing something with or to the girl. The guy walking on the bridge, stuff falling into water, and the squid at the end didn't really seem to phase her at all, she just watched them.

Overall, it's alright but nothing scary at all sadly.

Pienkaito responds:

To be honest, if I spent more time on it, then I would come up with an infinite long list with ideas on it.

Maybe the warning message misguided you, but I simply put that one up, because of one particular scene. What I mean is that this animation was never meant to be scary.

It has a deep meaning to it actually and if you didn't play the game, then it's actually hard to think about it. (Most of the time, that is)

Thanks for the review, SCTE3.
